Angelika Schnieke has occupied the Chair of Livestock Biotechnology in the Department of Animal Sciences at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since 2003. She has worked in the biotechnology industry and research centers in the United States, Britain, Switzerland and Germany. Her work was instrumental in the cloning of Dolly the sheep and production of the first ever gene-targeted livestock animal. Her research experience includes the production of pharmaceutical proteins in large animals, animal stem cells, xenotransplantation and genetically defined animal models for research into human diseases. She is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina).
