Raquel García-Tomás is a composer specializing in interdisciplinary creation who completed her doctorate at the Royal College of Music in London. Highlights of her career include collaborations with English National Ballet, the Royal Academy of Arts and the Dresdner Musikfestspiele. Her catalogue spans chamber, choreographic, electroacoustic, jazz and solo works, along with video and opera. In this last genre, she created Je Suis Narcissiste, premiered during the 2018/19 seasons of Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Español (Madrid), and Teatre Lliure (Barcelona), and nominated in the Best World Premiere category of the 2020 International Opera Awards. She is currently preparing Alexina B., with the aid of a Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation, an opera that will have its world premiere in the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 2022/23. She received Spain’s National Music Prize in 2020, with the jury highlighting “the interdisciplinary and innovative nature of her personal musical language.”
