Ursula Ravens is Senior Professor in the Institute of Experimental Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Freiburg, and in the Institute of Physiology of the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Faculty at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD). As well as her pioneering work in cardiac electrophysiology – key to the prevention of arrhythmias – she has researched into the use of stem cells to regenerate damaged cardiac muscle and the pharmacological treatment of hyperactive bladder and lower urinary tract syndrome. She sits on the editorial boards of publications like the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Europace and Cardiovascular Research, and is a member of the German Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the American Heart Association, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Honorary Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and Honorary Fellow of the International Society for Heart Research, among other distinctions.
